Today, I'm continuing to feature authors and stories from the Christmas Comes to Dickens Romance Anthology. Caroline Clemmons brings us a warm holiday story of two unsure hearts who find their way together.
Laura Jordan’s beauty and sense of humor are more apparent than her sharp mind, soft heart, and strict code of right and wrong. Ward Callahan has avoided romantic complications to throw himself into building his ad agency. Once he meets Laura, he falls hard but must convince her that dating her boss is not inappropriate. Can he convince her he doesn’t want her heart only for the holidays, but forever?
Laura Jordan plans a quiet holiday at home except for the time she serves dinner at the homeless shelter on Christmas Day. She loves her job at Callahan Group advertising agency and doesn’t want anything to jeopardize her position there. She’s aware of how quickly office gossip could ruin her reputation and career.
Caroline says: This is a fun cookie to make with the assistance of children. At Christmas we use a handful of these cookies on trays along with several other kinds of cookies and candy we take to friends and neighbors. This is one cookie that disappears quickly at a party.
Growing up, our daughters loved helping make Snickerdoodles. They’re definitely a hands-on baking project. I’ve never met anyone who didn’t love this cookie—they’re family favorites at our house.

About My Story
The time from Thanksgiving until Christmas Eve is my absolute favorite time of year, so much that I collect nativity sets and angels year-round. One thing I regret is that each member of our immediate family is allergic to all types of Christmas trees. Since we can’t have a live tree in our home, I write stories in which I give a beautiful tree to characters who love theirs as much as we would. (In case you feel sorry for us, don’t. We enjoy our three artificial trees.) Like my heroine, the first year after the loss of my mom severely diminished my pleasure in the celebration I’d always loved. Also, like Laura, I have rekindled my happiness in the Christmas season. I wish everyone a joyous Christmas!

Ward Callahan is a wunderkind who started earning money online trading when he was in high school. At thirty-two, he owns a successful ad agency and is gaining industry recognition. He hasn’t had time for a relationship. When Laura starts working for him, he can’t get her off his mind.
When vicious remarks cause Laura to threaten a halt to their budding relationship, Ward is determined to set things right.
In the It's a Dickens of a Cookie! recipe book--an anthology companion book with Christmas cookie recipes by the authors--Caroline shares her Snickerdoodles cookie recipe.
